# Designing Split-Screen Canvas Layouts

> Use the canvas layout editor to create multi-zone screen layouts that display different content simultaneously.

## Steps

### Step 1: Create a layout

Open "Layouts" and choose "Create Layout". You start with an empty canvas.

> **Note:** A layout divides one screen into zones. Each zone shows its own content, all at the same time: a common split is a large main area with a sidebar for a clock, the weather or a promotion.

### Step 2: Add a playlist zone

Open "Playlists" in the editor's panel, and click one to add it. Drag it into place, then pull a corner to resize it.

### Step 3: Add an app

Add an app the same way. Here, a clock goes in the sidebar.

### Step 4: Add a heading

Add a heading from the "Text" panel, and double-click it to change the words.

### Step 5: Name and save

Give your layout a name, and choose "Save".

### Step 6: Find it in My Layouts

Use the back arrow to leave the editor. Your layout is now in "My Layouts", ready for any Premium screen.

> **Note:** The layout editor is a Premium feature.
